When it comes to gift giving, the average person will spend a lot of time and money shopping over the course of a year. Over in our family section, we deduced that the average person will buy two gifts a month for family members alone, ranging from toys to a Valentines gift certificate. That's 24 gifts a year, and we are not including the various gifts that you might want to get for your friends. It can be really hard to know where to start and where to stop, especially when it comes to those who are not a part of your immediate family.

The good thing about friends is that most of the time, you don't necessarily feel obliged to get them a gift on special occasions. In fact, most of us probably don't know when our friends' birthdays are up until a week or so before the big event. Still, many people do feel as though they should get their friends something special over the course of a year. There are many people out there who might even consider friends as part of their family.

This section of our website is dedicated to information and ideas about giving gifts to your friends. Here, you will find ideas on when it might be a good time to think about giving your friend a gift. As far as things to do in Ontario go, shopping on the Toronto scene can make the top of the list when one is well prepared. We think you will find that the occasion is not the only factor when you are deciding whether or not to give your friend a gift; how close they happen to be to you also plays into your decision (and it can be a great reason to get out and shop too).

We will take a look at some of the eventualities under which you might find yourself thinking of giving a gift to a friend. One of the great things about friends is that unlike family, our close friends tend to know exactly what is going on in our lives. That means that we can find an appropriate gift at any time for them. If your friend has mentioned that she needs to get her computer to work and back, for example, but finds it difficult to carry, you might want to think about looking into leather laptop cases. Or maybe you're just browsing in a cute shop and see the perfect scented candles for a friend who just redid their bathroom with a new bathroom vanity. You don't have to wait for a special occasion, either, such a gift will mean a lot at any time of year.

Of course, you don't have to make every gift perfectly poignant. Sometimes we see things that we know a friend would appreciate as a gift, even if it just makes us think of them. You might be in the mall for lunch, or you might be taking in one of the many Ontario arts and crafts shows to spend some time on the weekend. Something perfect for a friend in your life might jump out at you, and it might be something that you just have to buy, like cloth diaper covers for a new mom who likes to be green. Or maybe something for the kitchen in her new home among Fashion House condos.

The articles on this site will help stimulate your creative process when it comes to buying gifts for your friends in Toronto. We will take a look at occasions and opportunities, as well as specific gifts, in order to make your shopping experience just a little more streamlined.
