The day a high school or college student gets his or her own apartment is a big day, both for them and their families. It means they're growing up and moving on. They'll likely be a little ambivalent about leaving their family's Scarborough homes (as will you, seeing them go) but you can help them ease the transition by buying them some housewarming gifts that will help them settle in. Here are some of the things people renting their first apartments are likely to need.
Furniture
Furniture is the big ticket category, because without it Central Toronto condos look and feel empty, which can spawn feelings of homesickness in a young occupant. If you can afford it, spring for a new bed (no twin sizes, they're grown ups now!), sofa, or television. If you can't, why not get a coffee table or chair. It's also perfectly acceptable to donate your old furniture to the cause. Students would rather get used items like sofas and beds from a relative than pick them up off the street.
Household Items
There are a lot of little household items the youngster probably won't think of until he needs them. These items include garbage cans, towels, boot trays, sheets, bath mats, soap dispensers, placemats, salt and pepper shakers, lamps, bookshelves, and area rugs. You can help a student make his Tip Top loft function like a home by supplying some of these items. These items are often inexpensive at Dollar and department stores and in many cases you can buy coordinating sets that will look cute.
Kitchen Items
Some apartments come with dishes in them that were left over from previous occupants, but new Mississauga condominiums do not. Your new apartment dweller will need at least four of each of these things: soup bowls, cereal bowls, large plates, small plates, cups, mugs, knives, forks, and spoons. He or she will also need implements like baking sheets, mixing bowls, measuring cups, for cooking and small appliances like a toaster and a microwave.
Decorations
Most girls who are moving out on their own will want to decorate their new place themselves, so you can help by buying them gift cards to their favorite home stores. For males, you can donate decorative items for their London real estate like family photos, posters, artwork, rugs, and knickknacks because a lot of males will not bother to decorate otherwise.
